Hi Guys, I have at the mo,
Corsair H110i Corsair GTX 280mm Extreme Performance All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler
Avexir
Core Red Series 8GB (2x4GBx2) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16001104G
DELUXE ASUS 1155 P8Z77-V
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz Ivy Bridge (not the K version)

I have a chance to upgrade my motherboard and cpu, just bought my RAM, so DDR3 is a must, I have a water cooling set up on my cpu, would also like to keep this, I run gtx 970's SLI

I do like the sound of those i7-5930K 3.50GHz
I love the look of
MSI
X99A Godlike Gaming Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 EATX Motherboard
but DDR4
any advice on what I can upgrade to but keeping my ddr3 also keeping my water cooler
Games I love, from sims to action.

Thanx
Gary:)

Your going to be limited on what to upgrade as most higher end systems require DDR4, IE the X99 is only DDR4.

Lower end socket 1151 boards can take DDR3 but I think the performance boost will be minimal at best.

The most significant performance boost in this case would be going for X99. Therefore you would have to let the RAM go and take the ddr4 route instead.
For DDR4 platforms (Haswell and Broadwell 1150, skylake 1151 ddr3 version), it's not worth buying from your current rig.

Hi guys many thanx for your input, I kinda knew this, just thought I would ask anyhoo :)
if I went with x99 any idea's if I could keep water cooling system, perhaps I might need another type of back plate maybe perhaps, tell I can plz :)

Cooler should have the fixing screws for X99. The manual will tell you which ones to use.

You do not need a backplate, they should screw directly to the CPU frontplate.
