Hi all my gtx 770 has done well since i first got it but im doing a little overhaul of my system and thinking of either going for a new gtx 1070 or the older gtx 980 which may come down in price.
Am looking for maxed out no sweat 1080p as i do most of my gaming in the living room on my large 3d TV.
What do you think wait for a price drop on the gtx 980 or get the 1070?
Also my OS is Win 10 so will one be better for dx12?

Regards Alan

Either the GTX 1070, or the top Polaris 10 card (waiting for benchmarks of both).

The 1070 is definitely a good chunk faster than the 980, and cheaper too. So it'd be mad to go for a 980 now.

Yea i was thinking the price might drop of the GTX 980 near launch of the 1080 but if the 1070 is going to be more futureproof/powerful i suppose there is no contest.

Nope is not going to be future proof. It has no hardware Async compute, and we do not know how it handles DX12 nor Mantle Vulcan.

I did say more futureproof as in compared to the gtx 980.
And as far as Async compute is concerned if the gtx 1070 will play my games at 1080p highest quality and if it manages DX12 well it can use bananas to help it along for all i care  .
But i will wait and see the results first before i buy :)
