So I just added a Ryzen 7800X3D to the pc and have a Founders 3060ti.

Thoughts on 3080TI or 7700XT. I can get either at a fairly good price.

Help appreciated. The 3080TI is used but the 7700XT is brand new.

7700 XT would have to be cheap to be worth buying over the 9060 XT 16GB.

3080 Ti is significantly faster, but I'd assume the price is too. Would need to be a good price, to be worth buying over a new 5070 or 9070.

Agreed. The 3080ti is also pretty powerful hungry too.
You haven't told us what power supply you have, that may also need to be taken into consideration.

3080ti = 350w tgp but with transients that can easily double that draw.

Though, from a 3060 Ti, I don't think you're getting enough grunt with those cards anyway.
Yep. The 9060xt is basically a 3070ti that's not vram limited.

Neither the 7700xt or the 9070xt is worth the minor performance increase.

Realistically the lowest acceptable performance uplift (ie, >50% on the 3060ti) is the 3080/4070/5070 and above on Nvidia side, or 6800xt/7800xt/9070 on the Radeon side

The other option was a 6900XT
6900xt is a good upgrade if you don't need the ray tracing and if you don't mind the silly power draw
Else I would get the 3080ti out of all the options you've presented. But keep in mind the 3080ti only has 12gb vram.

What prices are the 3080 Ti and 6900 XT? I can understand the appeal of last gen high-end cards, but they often struggle to compete with newer midrange cards, once you take into account warranty, features and power draw.

£440 380ti and £350 6900XT
You can pick up a 5070 for around £450, it’ll be slightly faster but use around half the power of those other cards, if you can stretch to around £500 then the 9070 is an even faster card and has 16gb VRAM for some extra longevity.
For a little extra id go with a 9060xt 16gb
Not really worth it coming from a 3060ti as it’s only 20% faster when not VRAM limited.

£440 380ti and £350 6900XT
According to TPU's GPU database, the 5070 is 3% faster and the 9070 13% faster than a 3080 Ti (I believe these numbers are just raster, without ray tracing or upscaling), being around £470 (lowest) at OCUK for a 5070, or £490 (lowest) for a 9070.

The 6900 XT is 14% faster than a 5060 Ti 16GB (~£400 lowest at OCUK), but more power hungry and a lesser feature set.

If the 3080 Ti and 6900 XT have no warranty, I wouldn't entertain either card at those prices.

A 3080ti should be around £350 max now given the prices of a new 5070 which is a far superior card in all aspects.

The shop that sells the 6900 and the 3080ti gives a 5 year warranty.

I would not touch RDNA 2/3 unless its very cheep as it seemed to be abandoned unless it ends up getting FSR4 support and a £450 3080ti isnt worth it as it many years old and could be mined within an inch of its life, get a 9070.

Still it’s a lot to spend on 5 year old tech when the brand new stuff is similarly priced or not much more.
