upgraded cpu

hiya, i want to do a bit of a upgrade to my pc but i was wondering what cpu i should go for and if i really need a ram upgrade, i currently have a intel i5 250k at 3.30 GHZ and 8gb of ram, my main issue is i have no idea what cpu to go for i'd rather stick with intel as i trust them and have had issues before when i went to amd, could someone let me know please

my motherboard is a asrock z68 extreme4 gen3 so i know its a pretty old board

i bought a massive heat sink when i bought the system and i got a case with 3 massive fans on the bottom a Raven 2 Evo Midi Tower Case so i'm not to worried about over heating, yeah gaming mainly, would overclocking it make more sense if i just want a increase in power? i have no idea how to over clock tho.

i mainly play at 1080p i do prefer big rpg games e.g. skyrim, fallout. is there an easy way to overclock? i'm a complete noob when it comes to that sort of thing, or is there a good place to get a guide to it? i've tried doing the old google search but i have no idea what they are going on about.
