Hey guys, just a short query.

Friends PC just built, using a 2500K, ASUS P8P67, 500GB hard drive, 4GB of CorsairXMS3, and temporarily a 512MB 8800GTS. The problem is that it's just been built and the monitor won't display through the DVI. Tried a DVI to VGA dongleand the monitor still won't have it.

The weird thing is though, that I connected his laptop up to the monitor and it started displaying via VGA, so I thought it may start working again, but it isn't.

Second build that this has happened on, but thelast time it happened, I hooked it up to a laptop and it started working like a jumpstart, and it worked on the newly built machine. Any ideas?

Hi there, may I ask which memory slots you have installed the RAM modules in?

Also, have you installed the GPU into the top-most PCIE slot?

I can't remember which PSU it was but I will find out.

Just to let you know, the machine does turn on, fans spin up, including hard drives and the GPU fan.

And yes the GPU was tried on the top most slot first, then to the lower, then back to the top.

I recall the RAM slots used being A1 and B1, they were not directly next to one another.

Looking at the motherboard manual, you should install the RAM in the A2 and B2 slots first.

Okay cool, he's trying that right now.

The PSU is a 650W Coolermaster one. Just over 3 years old but fully functional. Was just tested in a high spec machine recently and was fine, booted post'd and displayed.

In case this is a very basic error when the machine was built by my friend, can you just run through a checklist of how it should have been built and how it should run?

There are no integrated graphics on this motherboard so it's not like he can run through that. Is there something wrong going on there?
