first of all a BIG THANKS too all that helped me making my new hardware deccisions
the new spec is in my sig
the old bits ai replaced where 1 gig of V-data DDR 3200
Asrock 775dual 880PRO motherboard
replaced them with
2gig dual channel DDR2 mushkin PC25300
ASUS P5ND2-SLI
my thoughts:
first of all i hate the layout of the new asus board. its terrible ! all wires are forced to the top right of the case exactly where all the powerr cables come down... it may just be my case but its VERY tight.
memory:
wow it just LOOKS cool lol
benchmarks
the first score is the old machine, second is the new
the new mobo seems to have increased CPU performance a little
in 3DMK05
game one CPU tests: 1.8 FPS to 2.8 FPS
game two CPU Tests: 2.9 FPS to 4.4 FPS
in sandra:
the cache test has increased from 6231 ( combined result ) to 8928
memory test:
int bufd : 2188 to 4961
float bufd: 2191 to 4962
PCMARK 04
i ran all 44 tests:
PCMARK :5330 to 5925
CPU: 5646 to 6014
memory: 2994 to 5012
3dmark 05
1024 no AA filtering = optimal, vs 3_0, PS 3_0, FFR = off
g1=17.9 to 18.6
g2=10.3 to 10.6
g3=16.9 to 18.8
FINAL3DMARK 05 = 3866
the other feature tests: changes were very small
i think im gonna save up for asnother 6600GT for an SLI setup.
