Upgraded old W7 laptop to W10 and now MS services won't work

So I just upgraded an old Sony VAIO I'm going to give to a relative to Windows 10 and I'm having some issues with my connection to various Microsoft services -- specifically the W10 email client, Internet Explorer and W10 account sign-in.

Whenever I go to use each of these they seem to think I'm not connected to the internet, even though I am (I'm able to use Chrome just fine). Has anyone seen this issue before?

I've already downloaded all updates.

I would clean install it.

I restored it to factory condition prior to the W10 upgrade, and then updated everything via Windows Update.

Yeah that's not the best way to do it, clean install would be best but from where you are now you can go Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.
You may or may not have to find drivers as this is effectively a clean install.

Yeah as said, do a Reset PC first, then see if you still have problems.
