Hi,

I wondered what you think of this speed, I stay in a small town in Scotland with a 8 -10mb connection with AOL.

I have upgraded my DG834Gv3 router with the DG firmware from Here.

I have also bought a new usb adapter and here is the model.

What I cant understand is why my speed has increased so much, as I was only getting 8-10mb download and 0.36mb/s upload before I upgraded my routers software and my adapter, now my speeds are between 14-15mb download and around 0.75mb/s upload.

I have tested my speed out on a few different sites and they all confirm the same results as speed test.net

Hi,

Sorry I don't have the router stats from before, but here is my exchange.

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WSMAY

I do know that the upstream and downstream on the router setting from before were around 8000kbps for downstream and about 400kbps upstream, but the router is now showing after the DG firware upgrade 17659kbps downstream and 900kbps upstream.

Just sit back and feel smug :)

Custom firmware is often tweaked for best performance

Hi,

Just thought I would ask, as I did not expect such an increase with just a firmware upgrade on an old netgear router.

The most noticeable difference is the stability of the router now, no drop outs and super stable on my wireless connection and the speed tests above on speedtest.net are done by wireless on my router downstairs and not wired to my PC.
