Hi Guys

I just upgraded from 2x1g sticks dual channel to 4x1g sticks Kingston Hyper X dual channel and now my monitor won't turn on and either will the mouse or keyboard.

I have tried resetting the CMOS but still no luck, i have a Asus P5QL-EM motherboard.

Can anyone help please

Thanks,

Thanks for your quick reply,

They are both set to Auto in the bios, i can only run on 2gig at the moment if i try 3 or 4 then my pc don't load.

try running the RAM at 2.0V and see if it will boot at all with all 4 sticks in, if so test for stability then increase the voltages then test, repeat until stable. you shouldnt need more then 2.2V. if that doesnt work slowly increase the northbridge voltages and test for stability

You need to grab memtest, stick it on a bootable usb key or floppy and run it for a few passes.
If you have any real stability problems they usualy show up in the first 5-10 minutes.
You may want to try upping your nortbridge voltage a tad too as having all 4 banks full makes the memory controler work a lot harder.

Is the CPU overclocked?

If not then set the northbridge to about 0.05 - 0.1v above the lowest setting.

Some systems (mostly laptops) will not support more than 3GB, the Acer Aspire 5601 is an example. It is supposed to be with the on board graphics controller and shared memory, so if altering the voltage doesnt support it 100% then a BIOS update may be required.
