Upgraded to a GTX970 - does this performance seem about right?

I've today upgraded from my trusty GTX670 to the KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" and have re-run the tests on 3D Mark with the following results:

Fire Strike 1.1

5979 -> 9001

Sky Diver 1.0

16355 -> 20388

Cloud Gate 1.1

15035 -> 16935

Ice Storm 1.2

135473 -> 138454

I know that benchmarks aren't the be-all and end-all of this sort of upgrade and I do intend to overclock my 2500K to get the very best out if my system but I just wanted to make sure I was in the right ball-park performance-wise!

The other thing I was surprised about was my score of 9001 was apparently very close to the score of 9131 using an i7-4770K and a GTX Titan!?!?!

The 970 is on par if not a little better than GTX Titan in games. (First Titan)

my 2500k (4,5ghz) and a 970 hit about the 9k mark. After a little tinker on the overclock I'm about 10.1k. So you are about right i think for out of the box.

Have a 670GTX the 970 is not a big enough upgrade for me waiting on 980Ti game at 1440P will cost a lot more though but should last me a few years interesting seeing your scores Stevie not bothered doing any benchmarks myself my 2500K is stuck on stock in my shuttle XPC system getting new PC end of the year.

I was in the same boat as you spike, going from a 280x to my 970. I really wanted to wait for the 980Ti, however the 280x was starting to die and forced my hand. Will probably sell on the 970 in the summer and rebuild a new machine using a 980Ti.

Thanks for the replies guys - nice to know I'm in the right area performance increase-wise!

I have to say I was a bit worried right off the bat as the display port didn't seem to be working (reboot solved that!) and I heard some faint coil-whine while the Windows Experience rating check was doing it's thing, but I've not heard anything since while playing games and doing the benchmarks!

Performance-wise it's been spot on so far at 1440p - ramped everything up to max/ultra on GRID Autosport, Elite: Dangerous and Dying Light and I've not noticed any slow-down or issues at all! :D
