Hello peops

Have you ever made a purchase where at the time you thought it was a good thing until more info came out indicating otherwise, well i think i just gone and done that.
I had 2 gtx 680s in sli and just recently sold them and bought a brand new sapphire r9 290 tri x oc for a bargain of £210, and then i just grabbed another one on Friday from ocuk for £269 with the p&p, i tried to hold off for the cards around the corner but just got caught up in the deals and after the purchases i kinda started feeling bit doubtful of it.

What do you think about the purchases of the 290s?
Input would be appreciated

At the prices you got them for mate and the performance they bring I wouldn't grumble, there will always be something new around the corner but in my opinion it is always best to buy cards just before the new ones come out as its dirt cheap.

There's always going to be something new. What you have to look at is, is the performance what you want? If so, it doesn't make a difference what else is out there.

Thanks guys i appreciate the comments they make good sense, also do you think the gtx 970 and 980 will kill off the the 290s in question, and do you think they will be around the same price point when they come out, the prices are not yet established and where just going on rumors.

I have seen you ask a lot of questions about your purchase in the last 2 days!

the 970 i would expect to come in around about 290 performance, probably a bit less, the heat (volts) and etc will be lower though. 980 will beat it, but its gonna cost a small fortune when its first released probably 450+

Be happy knowing your 290s will smash any thing you throw at them for long time. Sell on your 680s and stop worrying about it!

I think most people can guarantee the price point will not be the same that is for sure.

As said the best time to upgrade is just before new gpu release,
I just got 2 gtx 780's and not bothered about whats coming soon.
Performance on new cards are only going to be about 10% better.
A little tweaking and you will get the same any-way.
Just be happy with what you got as it will last a while
