Hi folk,

I finally have some spare dosh to upgrade my pc.. but I'm not really sure if I should be going for a 4790k or save up a bit more and get a 6700k gen (it doesn't seem like much difference to me).

What I do with my pc .. gaming and streaming to twitch a bit

my current pc is this

i5 3550
16gb of ddr3.. but 2 different dual channel kits, one at 1600 and one at 1866, i believe they are running at 1333 atm.
7870
1tb hdd
128gb ssd
600w corsair psu.. sounds like its on its way out soon.

should i go 4th gen and keep the ddr3 ram? will they run ok like that or should i get rid of one set and buy another 1866 set? cpuz shows they are runnning in dual.

save money and get 6th gen / ddr4 etc?

buy a new psu and gpu and hope that is enough?

the setups would be something along the lines of..

r9 390
4790k + mobo
850w evga g2 (overkill??)

or if going for graphiccs card and psu.. 850w evga g2 with a 980ti or something?

Please help as I'm really undecided and its doing my nut in.

Thanks

As above, no point going full upgrade - you wont see a big result from the investment.

New gfx card is the best bet if you want more performance, 7870 is a decent card but you'll see a good improvement to a 970/390 or higher to the 980/Ti.

I'd be looking at a 650W PSU personally to be comfortable. Make sure its a quality unit though, whats what matters.
