hi there,

I want to get my rig set to support an HTC vive. I have £500 budget now, and can have more in a few months to spend on it.

This is the main part of my current set up which I'm using to game things like Overwatch and BF1 on medium settings;

Intel i5 2500k (3.3ghz, overclockable)
Twn Frozr AMD radeon HD 7900 series (3gb)
8 bg Ram
750 watt PSU
Water cooling for cpu
250 gb ssd

Am I correct to think I could just replace the graphics card to support VR?

Might I be better off in investing in a new system completely later on?

Any thoughts or tips will be appreciated :)

For the Vive, I'd say you'd want a i5-6600K and GTX 1070 minimum (IMO - I'm packing an i7-6700K and 1080 and I still think it's not enough in some cases)
If the VR bug bites hard, you're going to be wanting some more storage too, and perhaps a bit more memory :D

Thanks. I had another look through hardware after reading your suggestions.

Yeah so new cpu and gpu is minimum. Will want to change over other parts at the same time now, I think. I think it would be better to do this and create a new system for another 5 years like i did before.

Also cost may come down (for VR headsets) over the next 12 months, which is how long I'll need to put a cheeky ton aside for a new rig.
