Ok.....im making the move from amd to intel......

Just bought the evga nforce 680i mobo as a base....

Already got a bfg geforce 8800 gtx....

600w PSU

All the drives....

Now jus cpu and ram.....on a major budget.....so got the cheapest DDR2 in here (for now....i wont be using it long)......which was a 1gb stick of PC4200, made by samsung (533mhz)......its gonna be poor, no need to tell me.....

As for cpu I bought the cheapest core 2 duo money can buy (the E6300) in hope of getting the quadro when some more cash comes my way....and I've heard its good fun to overclock them.....

What should I be able to get out of this going by the other kit....i know memory is going to be a mildly limiting issue.....

Memory will be a bit more than a mild issue. However, most people seem to be getting those beauties to about 3ghz without too much trouble. Seriously tho, get some better ram asap.

BTW congrats on the 8800.

Not booting at all.....

Built it all, and it just aint booting....ive checked everything......

Its either a faulty mobo or that RAM...

Board is coming up with error 1d which in the manual says: Early PM Early PM initialization.....me = lost..........

And I cant even register for support on evga's website as the serial number isnt in their database....sucky board for £211 quid tbh.....

i don't think it's the board i'm pretty certain it will be the ram! also i'd stick with the 6300 for a while there currently is not a single reason really for most of us on this forum to even consider quadcore! i'd save up some money (or sell the wife :p) and get some better ram then you will have a damn impressive rig there that will be set for atleast a couple of years!
