Never never land..
Ok,

Not been in here for a while, and am currently running an overclocked Opteron on an ASUS A8N - SLI @ 2,63 GHZ with 1 gb or RAM, with an Nvidea 6800 GS SLI card.oh, and running XP pro

Two questions,

DO i get 2 GB or RAM, the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC), looks good at the price.

And if i want to upgrade the Graphics card say with a budget of £150, which is the one to get.

ta
very much.

Your motherboard wont support that memory as it is DDR2 whereas the board will take DDR. An upgrade to 2gb would still be worth it though, reasonable kits are about £70 though so a bit more than DDR2 prices.

At the moment the car dto get seems to be the 8800GT, it's a very nice performer for a nice price.

Thanks.

Christ, its up to DDR3 now,.. What a differnec a year makes.

Is it time to do the whole job again, new MB, CPU & memory.

Or just the Graphics card?

thanks

Decent mobo, entry Core2 chip, cheap DDR2 2gb kit & a shiny 8800 would be a nice upgrade. (You'd really have to clock the Core2 though)
Some cash back from selling your existing kit and it wouldn't be too bad a hit on bank balance... (assuming you have a little bit saved for the GPU upgrade at moment)

What CPU is it? I would say if its a single core and with you only having 1 gig ram its probably worth buying all new as mentioned above. If you have an x2 processor then it would be worth adding another gig of ram and getting the 8800gt
