Hey guys,

Just wanted to put this build past you, I'm going to be aquiring these upgrades in Sept. My current rig is below:

Intel Core i5-3570k 3.4GHz -£179.99 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-418-IN

Corsair Force Series 3 240GB - £159.98 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-022-CS

MSI Z77A Intel Z77 Motherboard - £159.98 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-199-MS

Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM HDD - £79.99 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-366-WD

21.5" Dell P2211H - £176.65 - External link

Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition - £69.99 - External Link.

Total: £826.58

This seems like a lot for upgrades, any help or input is always appreciated. The parts that I would be willing to change would be:

The monitor, as long as it looks decent and is of good make, quality etc.
The SSD, I've already got a 120GB FS3, so I could just go for another one for them if needed and save a hundred pound or so.

Thanks guys.

Do you have a specific budget on this?
Also, I would go for another 120GB FS3 and raid it but that's just me. What is the pc going to be used for?

Budget is pretty much under £1k, I wouldn't want to go over that. And I could do that, the 120gbs are only like 80'ish at the moment, which is great. Going RAID on SSD's would be pretty nice.

Monitor wise you could look at this:
YOUR BASKET
1 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £159.95
Total : £171.95 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Gets very good reviews, should be good for the price, or this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Widescreen LED Monitor - Midnight Grey £189.95
Total : £201.95 (includes shipping : £10.00).

If you can stretch the budget a little have a look at the U2412M.

SSD wise Samsung are very highly regarded with their 830 series, but the Corsair one is pretty good as well.

For the HDD you could save yourself a tenner and go Seagate: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-257-SE&groupid=1657&catid=1660&subcat=1952

As for the Mobo I'm a gigabyte fan myself, so another option would be this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-405-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=2261
which has Thunderbolt as well...

To be honest a lot of it is personal preference, just pick and mix what you like. :)

Not sure I would bother with Ivybridge tbh. Overclock your CPU and wait for Haswell imo. I think most people on our gen CPU/mobos are staying put as there is a fair gain but I dunno about but nothing stretches my system that would make me upgrade to Ivy.

I second this. My girlfriend wants a gaming PC, but I am waiting for Haswell processors to come out.

Ah okay, thanks for the suggestions thus far guys!

I think I may just hold out then, get just a new monitor, keyboard and ssd. my 5400rpm storage drive should suffice for now.
