Upgrades

I currently have the following

i7 3770k
8gb 1600mhz kingston ram
amd 7870

I'm looking at upgrading the graphics card to amd r9 290 but im wondering is it worth spending 90 quid for a 290x, is the 5 fps... maybe worth 90 quid?

Also how long with the 3770k last, it has done me well and the system atm I am having no problems doing anything or playing the games i currently play, im just looking at upgrading the graphics card for newer games coming out and wondering when the cpu will need upgraded. Should i wait until after haswell or longer? or when the the pc starts actually slowing down maybe consider grabbing a 2011 socket intel?

i've always used amd, had a 6970 and a 7870, never had a nvidia card as i dont know which ones are decent.

if you really want to upgrade the go for the gtx 970.

I've got a 970 and an i7 920 and not struggling with anything I play at the moment.

Wait for the new games you want and try them. Your system might surprise you. If not check how much CPU/GPU is being used whilst gaming and that'll give you an idea which is holdin you back.
