I realise now is probably not a good time to upgrade but 'now' has been going on for so long and I want to pass my (perfectly capable) 970 down to my sons computer.
What cards, that can actually be found for sale, would be a semi decent upgrade to my 970gtx? A 1050?
Is looking to buy a new card for about £250 feasible?

Edit : I'd like to stay with Nvidea.

The 970 doesn't have enough vram these days, so removing that bottleneck will be necessary, but i'm not convinced the 3050 will be more powerful than the 970, reviews should be out around the end of the month.

Terrible time to be the market for a new GPU unfortunately.

IF the RTX 3050 is sold at MSRP (£239) it will be marginally better than your GTX 970, but as already said, I doubt that price will be real.

I like to think that the 3050 will perform a reasonable amount better than a 970 and also has 8GB of RAM too. Question of course is will it be possible to get one at MSRP or anything close too?
