Hi,
Looking to upgrade a barebones system I purchased from Overclockers, early 2010.
I am having reliability issues when running 'Google sketchup' and complete system crash when playing BF3. Memory seems to be running fine as does the cpu, 3d mark also crashes the system.
I presume it's an issue with my old gpu (direct-x 11 not being supported) and the hard drive being ancient and at capacity. Although I honestly don't know much about any of it.
I currently have;
p/s: Corsair HX 850
cpu: Intel I7 920 @2.67Hz
Corsair h50 cooling
Ram: Corsair xm3 2048 1600mhz 6gb
gpu: Bfg Gtx 280
hd: Samsung 500gb satta2 (very old)
mb: Asus P6T deluxe
I'm looking to buy;
MSI GeForce GTX 660Ti Power Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel 520 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
I would like to know if there are any issues with these two items and compatibility with my current system. Specifically, does the ssd need any particular components regarding connection with the m/b,( are they supplied separately)?. If I understand correctly the drive is backward compatible?
Also the gpu is designed for PCI-express 3, again this is also backward compatible? Will it fit on the m/b!
I plan to install os (win7), Sketchup and bf3 onto the new drive and little else in the hope to resolve previous stated issues.
Again, I have little knowledge of components and systems so any help would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers, Dave..
