Hey gang!

I was wondering whether it's possible to upgrade my lapper CPU.

It's a T4200 and I was looking in to the possibility of replacing it with a T9300 or something of similar ilk.

Am I right in assuming so long as the CPU is socket 478 it'll work?

Do laptop CPUs come in various versions, with different sockets etc?

Or is it as simple as upgrading a desktop CPU?

(The laptop in question is an HP DV6 1130-SA)

Thanks!

I've don't many times with no problems.

If I can't find a definitive answer on the web as to whether the laptop will support a faster cpu I check that the laptop chipset supports the new chip, ie FSB speed is usually the main thing.

Also check the change logs for bios updates for your laptop, their always adding support for newer cpu's as they come out, if its listed in their you deffo good to go.

Also worth checking what cpu comes with the top spec'ed version of your laptop.
