I'm helping someone upgrade their PC, they've been inside their self and made a bit of a pigs ear of everything.
He wanted to put in another hard drive but said the machine wasn't turning on with it connected, so he bought another PSU for it, it's an Antec Fusion case so it has a bit of a unique PSU, he bought a bog standard PSU and jammed it in there.
Here are the specs:
Asus M3N78-EMH HDMI Motherboard
AMD Phenom 8450 2100MHz
4Gb RAM
OCZ600SXS PSU
Using onboard graphics
Sound Blaster Live! Model: SB0060
Plus Deck 2C
He's brought it to me for 2 purposes, to use it as a hifi, hence the extra sound card and the PC cassette deck, and also to see if we can get this gaming capable.
Unfortunately I don't have any kind of budget yet, this is more of a cursory glance to see what we can do with this motherboard and PSU.
Obviously I'm looking to get this up to 8gb RAM, but is there a worthwhile upgrade for the CPU, I can't even see AM2+ processors listed anymore.
Graphics card wise, I don't really have an idea where to start, price wise, but I'm more concerned about what this OCZ PSU can handle.
Sound card wise, I can't remember the last time I saw a Live! card! So yeah, say about a £50 budget to get that upgraded.
Sorry I don't have much info for people to play around, especially with no clear budget, but if anyone can give me some upgrade options, I would appreciate it.
