Hey guys,

Been using these forums for a while but yesterday i finally decided to register :)

Got a quick question that i hope you can help me out with. I'm looking to build a new system after christmas. So far, here is what i have in my basket:

650W PSU
Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 AMD 770 Socket AM2+
AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.6GHz Black Edition Socket AM2+ 125W 4MB L2 Cache
Seagate ST3500320AS 500GB Hard Drive SATA II 7200rpm *32MB Cache*
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz/PC2-6400 Memory GOLD DUAL CHANNEL Unbuffered CL5(5-5-5-18)

And obviously i need to get myself a GPU.

At the moment im running a XFX 8800GS Alpha Dog Ed, overclocked with a 6000+ @ 3.13ghz

I want to stick with nvidia, so please dont recommend ATI cards.
I'm thinking either an 9800GTX+ or a GTX 260. I game at 1680x1050 and play games including Race Driver:Grid, Farcry 2, Crysis Warhead etc

I don't really want to spend a fortune, so how much do you think the prices of cards will come down after christmas when new cards are released?

Cheers, Andy

At the moment i'd say its a really bad idea to go AMD.

You can get a much faster C2D/Q machine for the same money, and it will overclock further.

Funny how you'd go for an AMD cpu, but not even consider an AMD gpu :P
