Upgrading AM5 motherboard for pci5 - waste or not?

As title I currently have a AM5 x650 board that has pciexpress4. New GPUs will be pci5, do you think it's a waste of money to upgrade to the new AM5 boards for that.

A waste, as PCI-4 is still plenty and GPU's don't reach that bandwidth.

I would hold off until there is a measurable benefit in your case.

If buying a new board, coming from an older socket, it might make more sense.

We won't know for sure until they come out, but my guess is that a 8 or 16 lane card will be like most PCIE 4.0 cards in PCIE 3.0 boards and show a very small loss, like 2%-5%.

If it was my money? No way, not unless I wanted other stuff like e.g. USB 4 and more M.2 slots.
