Current system;

i7 2600K @ 4.5Ghz
H100i Cooler
Gigabyte Z68 UD3P Mobo
16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance
SanDisk Extreme 240GB SSD
Transcend 192GB SSD
1TB Samsung HDD
EVGA 780 3GB Superclocked
Corsair HX850w PSU

Well I've been saving to upgrade for a while but the latest Intel CPU's have been a bit underwhelming so I'm considering waiting until the next generation in 2015. Admittedly the system isn't too shabby even for it's age as it kicks butt in most games I play (I game and Stream on Twitch), but with the latest 900 Series Maxwell GPU from Nvidia I'm tempted to upgrade the 780 to a pair of 970/980's for the performance and less wattage requirements.

Further to this I'm going to the US (Florida) in October for my 40th and while there I thought I might pick up a cheaper bargain or two, in the shape of the 900 Series graphics cards, but having never bought components in the US before I'm not sure how well stocked places like BestBuy or TigerDirect are.

Other goods including souvenirs up to the value of £390
Should cover the cards (one for me & one for the wife :D )

Anyone have any experience of buying in the US?

A few hundred pounds depending upon what I buy.

The warranty issue is fine, I'm not asking regarding that, just if people had experienced buying in the US which I'm trying to ascertain.

Hi, just for your info, EVGA warranty is world wide so if you buy one of our products over there you can handle RMA with the EU office. If you have a question about any of our products just le me know
About where to buy, Bestbuy is one of the biggest stores over there, they have a hugh range of products and also good pricing. If you be there a little longer you can also consider Etailers like newegg, they have often special deals on certain products where you safe up a lot of money, also Tigerdirect.

Tbh I find it quite entertaining asking on this forum about buying from other computer related stores.

It is a bit like walking in to Pizza hut and asking where the nearest Dominos is.

Or am I missing something here ?

Excellent info, thanks very much.

Currently running an EVGA Superclocked 780 and the warranty/support is something I'd definitely like to keep and being worldwide is great value!

@DataVampire - if OcUK could match the US price then I'd purchase from them (as I've already stated), or if they have an issue with the thread then by all means they can close it, but unless you can contribute something to the thread in regards my question of purchasing overseas then I'd appreciate you keeping your observations to yourself.

Tbh it's not worth the extra to upgrade to a pair of 970s/980s at all from your 780

Grab a used/new 780, your PSU will be up to it no problems
Excellent performance and a considerably lower outlay for it
SLI 780s and less hassle :)
