Hi all,

I've got an HD5870, which I suspect will start to struggle with Crysis 3 and Metro 2033: Last Light. Rest of the spec is:

i5 2500k
8Gb RAM
single monitor running at 1920 x 1080
Win7 64-bit

I'm not looking to change the monitor (or add one) and I don't care about 3D. I do care about my games running with maximum bling - all the graphics options turned way up, so everything looks pretty.

Would the 7870 be adequate? Would the 7950 be overkill? I don't mind a bit of overkill - future proofing is no bad thing - but there's no point getting something that will only give me a performance boost by running a bunch of extra screens which I don't have.

I'd appreciate any advice.

The 7870 on offer at the mo is a bargain but the 7950 is a bit faster card.

If money is a issue the 7870 is near as fast, if it isnt get the 7950.

New games always demand more out of the GPU every year. The 7950 would be a better future proof choice. It would be a shame to feel like upgrading the 7870 in 6 months.

Ive just tried this game on my PC for you with my Gigabyte WF 7950

Metro on High - 1920x1080 Getting 50 FPS +

Computer Specs are :
I5 3570 OC'd to 4.4GHz
8GB Ram
