Hello,

I am looking to upgrade the above card, my budget limit is £50. I've looked at the X1950PRO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 and ATI Radeon HD 2600XT 256MB GDDR3. Does anyone know if there would be a big difference between these cards and my X1650 please? Or are there any alternatives? I mainly use it for photo editing and HD watching.

Thanks.

As your not gaming the 2600XT should be fine.

Should be improvement on X1650 you have at the moment, not sure how much though.

Thanks for the replies folks. There are a lot of variations on cards out there, like the HD 3650 comes in 512mb DDR2 model or 256mb GDDR3. But is GDDR3 a massive improvement?

GDDR3 will get the max out of the card, as DDR2 is rather limiting on the speed front, i would try and get a 512mb DDR3 unit. i just found 2 for around the 50-60 mark :)

The 3650 is a good middle point between the 2600xt and the x1950, in some things the 3650 is nearly up with the 1950, and for £50 it aint bad

Does it make a difference which motherboard I'm using?

I have the Foxconn Winfast 6100m2ma. I've seen the Foxconn compatibility charts, but they're hardly comprehensive considering all the new cards coming out.
