I though upgrading would be easy Ive just got £500 to upgrade my pc i know its not much but before i started looking at parts i thought that would be ok.I havent upgrade for awhile and to be truthful i dont know much about pc spec e.t.c.Anyway after looking for about 3 weeks now am as lost as ever when it comes to what to get so any help please. To save money am keeping from my old pc 2 ide harddrive[bought a ide to sata converter for 1 of them],2 Dvd wr, 17 in monitor just for now and if i have to my case even though i hate it.
What i ve been looking at
Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 or E6300
Memory DDR 6400 not sure what yet
7600gt or X1950Pro 256MB till the DX10 cards come down in price
Psu been told i need a good 1
The the biggest pain in the ? is the Motherboard i was told to go with sli incase i want to link 2 cards together and the only to mobos ive seen are Inno3D 680i SLI Socket 775 and EVGA nForce 680i SLI SKT775 I could get one of these but i think they might just be to much for my budget
I dont know much realy about overclocking but i would like that option to do it a little bit

Slightly over I know If the budgets really tight knock the graphics card down to a BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC, however if you can i'd spend the extra cash as the 1950pro is a lot better. Whole system should over clock nicely as well.

Truth is it's a gamble and luck with overclocking some people will get
a ds3 6300 and say the geil ram and have zero problems and clock to 3ghz
others will get the same and have nothing but problems.
My guess is a lot of the issues are user error.
Everyone recommends the ds3 and most people have no trouble with it
then if you delve deeper you unearth people sending them back rma's etc etc.

why would u recommend the freezer 64 to cool a C2D cpu? its the wrong socket.

Sorry my mistake, I just saw 754 and got confused with 775 :(. Ok somthing like the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, (definatly 775) at 16.44 inc vat.

ASUS P5N-E is another good option, around same price as DS3 but comes with SLi. read the reviews on it, a lot of people reckon its a good overclocker.
