So i'm thinking it's time to retire the dear old ps3. I only use it now for blurays and to watch converted mkv files. Is there anything better though out there for up to £150 that can perform better (any play native mkv)? the Sony BDPS7200 gets good reviews but will I see any noticeable difference?

Playing to a Panasonic tx-p55vt50 and occasionally an optoma 141x onto a 106" projector screen.

That was my worry. However I'm getting a bit fed up of converting mkv to ps3 mpeg and the noise it kicks out when the heat ramps up a bit. Can the Panasonic so mkv no trouble?

Got one but as far as I'm aware there is no decent remote? Plus it's subtitle support is a bit iffy (have a little baby so use subtitles a lot when keeping the volume down)

question now is that the 7200 sounds good but the 6500 is newer and has the newer sony interface. Is it always best to get the most current thing? PS3 is def going, the fans ramp up too much when it's been on a while.

The menu seems to be more like the ps4 on the 6500 which is something that interests me as I will be using my NAS a lot so browsing that in a nice enviroment is a plus

ok lets move away from the PQ side of things as i'm starting to think one box to do everything and something that is a bit quieter is going to be good, even if it looks the same quality as the PS3. I don't want an media streamer and I don't burn to bluray, I use my NAS.

Basically, out of those 4 I mentioned, what do people think is the best one?
