Well my brother bought a HP Pc a while ago for ~£1000, not the best spec for around the £1000 mark I know.

I am looking to upgrade the GPU for him so he can play higher end games etc... this is his spec: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03983810

I was looking at doing sli then noticed the board can't do it.... so was looking at something like the gtx 770 but not sure on what it will be like for power consumption, I haven't worked it out yet, but I am imaging it not to be the best "/...

So turning to you guys to give a helping hand on options

Also what would it be like clocking on this board, is it worth it? I know the I7 4770 (not sure is his is the k or not) is not a bad cpu anyway just thinking if push comes to it :)

It should only be the GPU holding him back right?

I would look at the PSU first as you might need to upgrade this if its the 450w version.

But the 770 sounds good or if has a little more to spend then look at this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11227-00-40G) £259.99
Total : £269.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Download CPU-Z and this will show if you have a K series, the system should come with a Z87 board which does allow overclocking but it will spend if HP will allow it.

On pre order at the moment.

Having a look at this again latley as I am not sure the power supply is up to it would it be best to go for the gtx 760 as it is already an option when buying the pc? the psu should be capable?

Opened it up to find it was only the 460w psu...

Just grab a new PSU to open up GPU options, I wouldn't dare use there standard PSU as it's not built for gaming, but rather a very over-priced desktop.
