His current system is based on an Athlon XP 2400+, 768Mb RAM, and a GF4 Ti4200 64Mb.
Ive just managed to pick up a bargain 754 mobo on MM so im going to use it to do dads pc up a bit.
The mobo has built in GF6100 GFX, not great but probably comparable to the Ti4200. Plus it has a PCI-E slot.
For the CPU i was looking at the 754 sempron 2800+ or 3000+ but will this be any quicker/better than his current 2400+ XP?
Or would i be better trying to get a cheap A64 2800+ or 3000+ of MM?
I dont want to spend a fortune as im having to fund this myself, but it will be his birthday pressie i think.
