Upgrading drivers - do you have to use driver sweeper or 'clean installation'.

What is the officially recognized method among the community at the moment for upgrading drivers. Historically, I've been uninstalling using control panel, rebooting, driver sweeper to clean and then installing new drivers after reboot

Yesterday however, I used the 'clean installation' option for the new betas that came out. Crashing problems on Shift 2 stopped, and it feels like in generally performance is slightly improved on AC and Skyrim.

Is this how everyone does it nowadays or do people still use driver sweeper?

I thought driver cleaner had stopped being recommended now, as it can screw stuff up.

The only bit you can add to your steps is removing drivers in safe mode. (and ditching the driver cleaner/sweeper step IMO)

Yeah there's no real need for Driver Sweeper to be fair... I just do a clean install when I update them but I only update them where necessary. I'm still on the 680 release drivers - had no issues at all as of yet. Will probably get the latest ones when the next release occurs.

ok thanks. I just looked up the official nvidia guide and they're now even saying you don't have to uninstall the previous ones, just overwrite over the top. How things have changed eh.
