Upgrading existing gaming PC

Hello,

I'm looking at upgrading my motherboard, CPU and RAM on a budget of about £400 to go with my existing GTX 1070 and case. I'm pretty sure my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU - on MSI afterburner I am finding that 3 cores are staying around 60-75% and core 4 is hovering around 80-95% usage on Subnautica.

Can you guys recommend a good combination for gaming? I would prefer Intel if possible.

My current setup:
  • GeForce 1070
  • Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
  • Intel Core i5-3570K
  • DDR3 8GB
  • 1x 512GB SSD

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Which CPU, mobo and RAM do you have now, to know how much of an upgrade you will get and if it's worth it. And which case do you have, ATX, micro-ATX or ITX?

Would it just be better to overclock my existing CPU ?
overclock your current cpu first and see?
would need a semi-decent cooler first though, if you haven't already got one. and besides the cooler can be reused on further upgrades, so it isn't necessarily wasted money
