Upgrading fans on an old Q6600 system

Hi guys,
I have a Q6600 with a old Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme RevA with a Scythe S-Flex 1600 RPM and was looking to see if I could improve my CPU temperatures a bit by upgrading the fan to something that pushed more air and hopefully be less noisy.
I have seen the Akasa Apaches get good reviews but I want the best fan available (unless its more than £20).

I would also appreciate if someone could recommend a 120mm case fan as I currently have an AccoustiFan and an Arctic Cooling 120mm one and feel that the Artic Cooling one is not as quiet as I would like.

I appreciate that may be upgrading the heatsink to something newer might be a better idea. I really like the idea of those all in one watercooling kits (H-50s and CoolIts) but are they worth it?

Cheers,
Gabriel

In terms of price/cooling ratio I don't think the H50 is really worth it. I'm not sure anything with the same noise level or lower will push more air than your S-Flex, however the Viper is supposed to be good for CPU coolers. As for case fans the Sharkoon silent eagle 1000s are supposed to be nice and quiet, just bought some from the MM myself so hopefully will be able to give a personal opinion on them soon.

The Apaches have a slower rotational speed than your S-flex so I wouldn't expect cooling to improve. A 1900 rpm Viper may be more appropriate but will of course be noisier.

I dont see the H50 or the ECO as a significant upgrade from what you have installed, unless you really fancy one. The high end air cooling Noctua NH-D14 or the Thermalright Silver Arrow would be an upgrade for you bringing you a quieter and cooler solution only seen this side of proper water cooling.

Thanks for the answers chaps. It seems that its not worth upgrading and I don't think I could justify spending extra for the Noctua or the new Thermalright which in any case I don't think they will fit into my case.
