Currently rocking a 4670k + GTX 670 with 8GB RAM.

Looking to upgrade please to:
GTX 2080/1080ti minimum
Intel processor I7 (for gaming primarily, video editting sporadically, emulation very sporadically)
Motherboard with bluetooth/wifi to save some usb ports

I'll be running an Oculus Rift most likely so lots of USB 3.0 will be nice.
I will be using the rift and a 4K TV as a monitor. I have speakers (5.1 surround KEFQ + monolith XL.. drool)

I need it to be easy to install. I remember last time I bought some huge ass thermaltake cooler for my CPU [which I never successfully OCed] and it was a PAIN to install.

I don't really have a budget at present but keeping it as low as possible would be much appreciated. Also as a side note, is it worth me buying the graphics card first, using it with my 4670k and buying a processor later on the year pending what intel release or will the 4670k be a huge bottleneck?

I also have an old Fractal Design case I can use. I could also salvage my SSDs and hard-drives from my current PC rig.

@aoarron

would have said pull the trigger on gtx 1080ti before the 2080 landed but to be honest, would say either grab 2080 or hold out till the 2070 is launched which will force older gens down in price .

linked aorus card due to it having an internal HDMI header on the card and Antec P110 which has HDMI cable for a front port which makes like with VR easier if you have to pack it up . know recently a member did it on here with the same gear and ive advised on it in the past. Also an Antec Rep on here @Ace Modder

if you not after a new case but lithe idea of the aorus card and your current case has a 5.3" bay ..

Intel are releasing 9th gen 8 Core end of sept so might be worth waiting, but to be fair, at 1440p/4k gaming their lead is cut down compared to AMD as its all about GPU Power. Worth looking into AMD Ryzen, specially if your using programs like Davinici Resolve for video editing which is free and alt to Adobe Prem and LOVES hardware!

Board comes with fastest available Wifi which is great if you've got BT/Virgin latest router, and also latest Bluetooth standard , also free Farcry 5 copy before end of month

your I7 is by no means a slouch , games are finally starting to have i7 3*** recommended but again this is at 1080p were CPU is the issue in speed.
would be worth awaiting a little unless you need the upgrade now or at least part of it

I’ll follow your advice and wait till the 2080 benchmarks.

It’s only an i5.

Do you think the 4670k is a bottle neck for a 1080ti?

Thanks for all your advice.

The hdmi one is huge!! So I should get a case with a hdmi at the front? I do love myfractal design cases tho...

Not if your gaming above 1080p or if it's overclocked.
I7 version will be better choice naturally , bit with VR and above 1080p, lot of it falls down to GPU.

If you like your case, keep it. Was just a link of thought about VR ease of use .

If editing videos though then second hand i7 or ryzen 8 core would really be worth a look into !
