Hey all, I been on the forum for a while, but this is my first upgrade request. Be patient with my ignorance. I did have a search, but i could do with some more direct help.

I have a specific upgrade request. I bought my machine in Korea 12 months ago the spec is as follows:

Ram: 2 gig DDR2 (samsung)
Processor: Intel 2.4 Quad
GFX: 8800 GTS 320gig (xenon)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
PSU: Micro module OM-500k v2.0 (?!?! probably korean.)
HD: Samsung HD250HJ 7200rpm

I want to focus primarily on video editing, but i do also game. From a video editing what are the essential upgrades? My case is some korean case, i can post photos if needed.

Im not going to put up a budget, (edit: as I am not sure where to start besides ram and gfx), but please help me guys.

Thanks in advance

You've got the basis of a decent editing machines.... Your best upgrades would be 4gb or 8gb of ram... And a 64bit o/s to go with them...

I would be looking at dual booting into macos for final cut (without a doubt). For that you'll need to meet the hardware requirements for macos and whichever incarnation of final cut you go for. Off the top of my head I have no idea, but they'll be easy to find (I think you'll be fine as you are though, google it, because there's no info on these forums regarding installing macos on a none apple machine). Another 2 gig of ram wouldn't go a miss, and definitely a second hard drive for storage. Makes a huge difference. If you're looking to edit 1080p you'll need to upgrade dramatically, but again I'd go with leopard/final cut.
