Hello, im looking to upgrade from my 4850 512mb to a better graphics card and i want to spend around £100, i play mainly at 1920x1080 resoloution and ive not really had that many fps problems playing games and i play around in middle settings on games like battlefield 3 and crysis.

My cpu is a a 9950 phenom black edition running at 3.0ghz and my motherboard is an Asus M2N68.

Would my motherboard have a problem with newer graphics cards?

thanks very much for looking at my topic and i would appreciate the help :)

+1 for the 6850! Best budget card upgrade you can get at the moment. The GTX550Ti sucks ass!

If you can stretch, the 6870 is a great card for £130!

Hope this helps

Yea the 6870 will drop to around 110 or so once the newer cards appear early in the year.

900W.... that is too much for what your system uses!

yea i did presume that 900w was abit overboard i cant remember why i brought it, think it was on special offer and seemed like a decent price, would this do anything to my system because of it being such a high wattage?

And also, im looking at the 6870, most notably the one here:

it looks pretty big, like would it fit in my motherboard and my case is pretty small but i am thinking of just waiting untill the start of january to purchase.

There wont be any problems with that PSU.

The 6850 is slightly better performance per £ than the 6870. Id go for the 6850 if you need to buy now, may be worth waiting for the 7850 due out next month (we hope/think)
