Upgrading from 4890 to Gigabyte GTX 560Ti OC

Hi chaps,

I have recently purchased an I5 bundle from OcUK at 4.4ghz which is in combination with an old 4890 and I'm getting BSOD's when maxing it out on Shogun 2 - presumably my Tagan is struggling with the demand on power. I'm going to buy a Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750W V2 and also wanted to look at getting a Gigabyte GTX 560Ti OC to pair up with it.

Firstly - is this a decent GPU upgrade for <£300

Secondly - will it fit in an Antec P900 case? I know it's 240mm long, but I'm at work and can't check - ideally want to get this delivered tomorrow

Cheers guys

I intend on upgrading for Battlefield 3, Crysis warhead/2 and currently Shogun. I like the performance to price point value of the 560Ti from reviews, but don't know alternatives...does that help at all :)

6950 2GB is the alternative. That plays Shogun & all the Crysis games just fine. It was a good upgrade from a 4890 for me. The 560 ti is a good card, but I feel the normal versions are a bit VRAM limited. Shogun especially likes to have more than 1GB

I game at 1920x1200 which is the borderline between 1GB and 2GB cards - but like I said some games now can make use of more VRAM and Shogun likes more even at those resolutions.

The 470gtx is in that price range also with a smidgeon more VRAM. Haven't owned one so can't comment on it.

Just to add, the 6950 is a long card - around 28/29cm. The 900 can take long cards but you may need to remove a drive bay. It was quite a bit longer than my 4890.
