As title says, I have ordered a new card and as I have already the latest catalyst drivers installed, should I just whack the new card in and boot up? Or clean the drivers install then re-install?

Whack it in and re-install latest cats, can't quite work out why people fanny around with driver cleaners and the like, they do FAR more harm than good.

Not to be in opposition to the above advice, far from it..... but for awareness... it took me ages to sort the install/drivers going from a 5770 to the 5850.

In the end the only way I could get my 5850 to be stable all the time was to remove all ATi drivers, CCC etc.... driver sweep all ATI stuff and rid the registry of all CCC entries...

Then install the card, with just the plain Ati drivers, no CCC.

I didn't want to go that way - it was a bloody PITA.... but that is what worked.

Thanks for that input too Andy, it sounds from your experience that it is probably to air on the side of caution and just clean first then install. Hopefully it will save me a MPITA

No, seriously, you won't need to.

I've literally (in the last 5 days) gone from Crossfire 5770's to a 6950, and there were no problems what so ever.

I've also done the same from CF 3870 to CF 5770, and from HD2900 to CF 3870.

Andy's is the exception, not the rule.
