Hi,

I’m upgrading my internet to 1,000mbps (Fibre to the house) from 70mbps and have some questions around the mesh and router/modem.

I’m upgrading all my BT discs (4 of them) from ac2600 to ax6600 (which have been very hard to come by, but found some second hand).

My question is, do I keep BT’s smart hub 2 or do I change out the router aswell? The smart hub 2 isn’t great, but does that matter if I’m just creating a mesh network by turning off the wifi on the hub and just running the first disc from the hub via ethanet?

Or should I be turning the hub into modem only, running to a new router and then running the discs from that?

My house only runs on wifi, I don’t have anything hard wired…i run a few things from the smart hub like the TV, hive hub and a few other minor things. But everything else runs directly from the discs/wifi.

I read somewhere that if you’ve got good nodes for a mesh, then ideally you need a good router too, and considering the smart hub 2 is wifi 5 only, and the discs are wifi 6 that I should pick up a better router.

Thoughts welcome.

Thank you! Appreciate your advice on this! Hopefully the discs get close to the performance of the FTTP speeds.
