Upgrading from 8800 to? £200

My friend is thinking about upgrading his 8800 512mb and has £200 to spend (Or anything under would be prefered by his misses )

Could you recommend me a card for that price? Could you compare its performance to my 280 nvidia so I can tell him what to expect.

1680x1040 res monitor I think.
