Roughly a year ago I had to RMA my 1080ti due to fan failure and ended up getting a refund and putting my 970 back in. Now it's Christmas I feel like it's time for an upgrade. Monitor wise I'm at 1440p 144Hz G-Sync.

I've been looking at new GPU's all week and still can't decide what to go for. I would ideally like to be as close to 144hz as possible which looks to be in the 2080ti ball park. So many choices!

No real budget
So is your budget a grand or £600?

I mean I've been looking at everything from a second hand 1080ti to a new 2080ti!

Don't think you have much choice in the real-term. It is either the 2080 or go all out for the 2080ti. But with all the reported widespread issue of RTX cards failing randomly, if you do go for any of the RTX cards make sure you get one that has good warranty and support for it and buy it from a reputable retailer with good CS (like OcUK).

Alternatively get a 2nd hand 1080 as a stop-gap (ideally paying no more than around £300 max), and save the money for proper graphic card upgrade when GPUs hit 7nm next year.
Has 7nm been confirmed for next year?
