Ok so what with the AGP 7800 GT costing same as a 7900 GT express..

Decided to upgrade :)

But will I be CPU limited? Got an A64 3200+ @ 2.10ghz.

Probably going to get the XFX EE 7900GT + an asus pci-e board. Do I need to upgrade the CPU as well? Oh and is it worth getting a new 754 board, looks like all the new cpus are 939 :/

if your budget allows for it then I'd sell your cpu and get a 939 one as it doesn't make much sence spending money on a 754 board as when you want a new cpu that'll have to change aswell. You could get a 3700sd for £140 oem that would pair up well with the new graphics card.

Get yourself a decent 754 pci-e board or even an Sli board like mine. Your cpu should be ok (i had a 2.2ghz 3400+ before my 3700+ and that was no bottleneck even in Sli) and it should also overclock another couple of hundred mhz with a decent board. Decent boards include:-

Abit NV8 nForce4 4X (Socket 754) PCI-Express Motherboard
Gigabyte K8NE nForce4 4X (Socket 754) PCI-Express Motherboard
Epox EP-8NPA SLi

I cannot recommend any Asus boards as their customer service is apalling. I found that out the hard way with one of their graphics cards.

Talking of graphics cards the XFX GeForce 7800GT Extreme Edition 256MB at £187.94 is an absolute bargain and is plenty powerful enough.

Don't let anyone "persuade" you into buying a new cpu when you don't need to. There is nothing wrong with 754 so why upgrade to another dead end socket such as 939 as it will soon be replaced by AM2. Then the next time you need to upgrade you will have to buy a whole nex cpu, memory and motherboard all over again. Stick with 754 and use it as a budget upgrade. There is very little performance boost to be had with dual channel memory.

I think your CPU should be ok to, will be a bottleneck, but you will still get a huge performance boost, ive only got an A64 3500+ at stock (2.20ghz) with an x1800 XT 512mb, and the performance is staggering over my old x800 XT PE. :)
