Upgrading from a 1070 FE

As the Subject stated I've got a Nvidia 1070 Founder Edition card and I'm unsure which card to go for that's available right now.

Would a 3060 be worth the upgrade? I've seen various results and I'm unsure.

I also see that Radeon RX 6900 XT is available but the problem is I have a G-sync monitor (acer predator xb271hu abmiprz) but is the card worth it over not having it Sync?

i upgraded from a msi 1070 to a 6700xt, i would check if your monitor is g-sync only or can also work with free sync

It's an acer predator xb271hu abmiprz and doesn't support Freesync from what I could find.

In the before times, when graphics cards were readily available, I used to look to get 100% (or more) performance improvement for the same money. I tried to put some very crude estimates of performance vs the 1070 and the cost as seen over the last few days. It's made me rule out the 3060, but otherwise I'm still stumped as to what to go for. Logically the 6800XT seems the better value, but that ignores all the fancy RTX stuff and I'm really reluctant to pay that much.

3060 +50-60% (£600)
3070 +100-120% (???)
3080 +160-170% (???)

6700XT +100% (£750)
6800 +130-140% (£920)
6800XT +150-160% (£1050)

Like you my monitor is Gsync only so a AMD card was out of the question. I ruled out a 3060 as a upgrade from my 1070 at launch as it just wasn't enough of a performance increase for the price. At 2560x1440 a 3060ti is around double the performance of a 1070 so that is what I set as my minimum. Like many others I have been trying to get a new card for months now but haven't been able to snap one up due to bots/lack of stock and not willing to pay the prices the scumbag scalpers are asking. I was lucky enough to pick up a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Vision OC in the forum deal on Friday so this madness is over for me.

I joined for that reason though it will be some time before I get a chance to see some deals heh. I was in line for the 3080 but seeing how Gibbo suggested to cancel I saw that as the best choice and look for alternatives.
