Upgrading from a 2800+ to a 2500mobile

IS it worth upgrading from a Athlon xp 2800+ (166fsb) to a 2500mobile (2.3ghx on air) for around a tenner?

Am I likely to see much dif? I thought the dif in bus speed and faster clock speed would make a fair difference?

Only in benchmarks. You won't see any real-world difference and the 2500M at 2.3 may require noisier cooling than you have currently.

Completely not worth it IMHO does your 2800+ not clock at all?

For a tenner, with that overclock you have to at least check it out!

2800+ overclocks a little, but not that it's stable enough to be worth it....

I thought we were talking your chip + £10 if your just buying it for £10 then its well worth it

the magic word is fsb - unlocked multi on mobiles means you can get it as high as your board will allow - and this does make a difference in real world performance

You're likely to get a fair bit more out of a 25000-M than 2.3Ghz too if you have a decent board. I remember both of mine did 2.75Ghz but they were damn nice chips

it should do it if it has decent cooling. mine is a 2600m but is considered to be a bad clocker since it only does 2.5ghz at 1.825v. a lot of the older xp-m cpus manage to do 2.5ghz at 1.75v being easier to manage on heat.
