Hi

I have been using my gtx 670 2gb gigabyte for the past 2 1/2 years and its been working great until I played bf4 and that can't even handle the game at the lowest settings.

So I have been looking around and saw the PC Format have placed the Gigabyte G1 970 4gb as the best value for cash in all the latest cards that have recently come out.

I currently have a Cooler Master Half X case, will it be big even for the 970 card? As it's a beast of a card.

I'm hoping that there will be a deal round Christmas for the card which I will buy it then instead of now.

Surprised it's struggling, a 670 is still pretty decent and ranks alongside the 760 and R9-280 which are today's mid-range cards and considered perfect for playing on "high" at 1080p.

ok please dont judge me but I didnt install the geforce on one of the ssd's on which bf4 runs on and since then I am able to play medium on 65 fps. Wow.

I hate myself for not knowing this sooner. It's been almost a year the game has been out and I have been blaming it on the game.

Hi, again if your not sure what settings your 670 GPU should be use Nvidia Geforce Experience.

Right click on Nvidia icon in left hand of taskbar > Open Nvidia Geforce Experience > scan for game's them click-optimise very handy tool.:D

970 is comparable to a 780/290. From my experience with a single 780 you would be seeing average fps in the high 80's-90's on max settings at 1080p.

My old 670 ran bf4 at ultra settings with no msaa so you should be fine for a little longer tbh.

If you want ultra and msaa x4 though it does struggle and not because of a lack of vram but because it just is not powerful enough at those settings.

I would've thought a 670 with a decent enough OC could handle BF4 at ultra/2xAA?

Dg, is a 290/x about twice as fast as either of those?

Never ran it with one 670, (had 2 in sli). Regarding the above chart, I'm assuming that's from bf4 's sp campaign? In mp on a single 780 my average in mp was a lot better than listed in the chart.

1080 670 gtx should be fine with no msaa or x2 and close to 60 fps avg. x4 msaa is too much. will have drops to like 45 on maps like parcel storm conquest.

knock msaa off and its still fine.

Yeah, that's what I would expect seeing as it's roughly on par with a 7950, which can do that.

As for the OP, there's clearly something wrong if his card is struggling at lowest settings.
