Upgrading from a Celeron

I want to upgrade the g/f's comp, it currently has a crappy 2.5ghz Celeron. I used AIDA but it comes up motherboard unknown. I do have the ID tho

Checked with that cpu-z program and the motherboard is an Intel chipset i845G.

Whats the best processor I can use for this motherboard?

The processor is crap, struggles to do anything, and when you do any sort of task the processor is at 100% usage. My g/f wants a Tv card and the processor would not be able to handle it.

The system came with 256mb

I put in a 512mb stick and it improved it quite a bit.

I might be able to get my hands on a amd 3200 and asus 939 motherboard at quite a good price, It might be better in the long run to do that.

Would be. It would be faster than the celery anyways. Whats the A64 3200+? Venice, Winchester, Newcastle?

Dunno what it is, a mate bought it a few month ago and was gonna build up his own system, couldnt be arsed doing it and he's offered it to me.

Which is the better of they 3 types?
