Upgrading from a GTX460

How much money would I need to spend to get a notable increase in performance? A little clueless here as it's been that long since I upgraded anything in my PC beyond the RAM! Let's assume, for the time being, no overclocking is being done to either card.

So, how much cash for a 100% increase in performance, and how much for a little more / a lot more / a little less?

EDIT: To be a little more specific, I have a Gigabyte GTX460 1GB.

6GB RAM, Quad Core CPU (i5, 2.8GHz), let me know if you want any specific details beyond that.

The main reasons I want an upgrade include my graphics card starting to cut out on me for a few seconds every now and then (I understand from a few months ago when I researched this at OcUK that this is a general nVidia issue, sadly, so not sure how much an upgrade will help on that front :p), I wouldn't mind an upgrade because, hey, everyone loves an upgrade, and finally (this was the straw that broke the camel's back) I've found out through a little research that my GPU is the most likely thing to be holding me back from live-streaming FFXIV while I play it (OBS + Twitch, in case you're wondering).

I run most games windowed these days, including FM2012 and FFXIV. My screen resolution is 1680x1050 but I play FFXIV with a resolution of 1664x972.

EDIT: Budget I suspect will hover around £200... let's just say I'm kind of saving for a honeymoon and I don't think I'll get away with pushing this cost too high, regardless of how much of a gamer my new wife happens to be (she plays XIV as much as I do)! ;)

EDIT2: Currently considering the GTX 760 options, with an eye for pushing it to 4GB if I can.

So I've been looking at the 270X, 670, 760 and 770. 270X doesn't seem better than the 760 for my resolution (from what I'm reading) while the 670/770 are more expensive and potentially overkill. I'm considering the following...

or the following...

...any idea how much the extra memory would be worth the cash? Would it make a dramatic difference, particularly when it comes to using OBS? I'm not sure what part of the CPU affects OBS performance, to be honest.

At that resolution 4GB would be wasted, extra memory won't give performance so if you're liking the 760 get the 2GB card :)

For that money a 280X is much faster and has 3GB of memory.

Will look into the 280X!

Just for reference, what PSU you got?
Corsair TX 650W ATX SLi Compliant Power Supply (so thankful OcUK is unblocked and archives ancient orders on my account so I can answer these questions from work :p).

EDIT: Looks like I have to weigh up the lower cost of the G760 with 2x free games vs. the higher cost but extra boost of power for the 280X. Decisions, decisions...
