Ive got a Pentium D 2.8ghz cpu which im looking to upgrade to a Pentium Quad core (1333 fsb)

Just wondering which one you'd reccomend, bang for buck etc.

Ideally spending no more than say £250 but is there much need to spend that much and will I see much improvement from one at around £150 ?

Used mainly for gaming / music production

Cheers

Q6600 new and retail they aren't clocking as well as they used to do, but a Q6 @ 3.0 will do horribly rude things to the Pentium D, Failing that a good pre owned one might clock better ( up to 3.4-3.6 ) and at that speed for around £100 there's nothing even remotely close, will be fine for gaming and excellent for music / video production work

the Q6 runs a 1066 FSB which gives it that nice headroom to o/c

normal fsb 266 ( x 4 obviously ) = 1066

so with your ram / board at 333 = 1333

the cpu would be at 3.0 if you can get the board to 400 fsb then you're looking at the lovely 3.6
