Hi all.

Any advice on what would be a good upgrade for £200 to replace a RX 560 2GB (1080p gaming)

Both new and used recommendations welcome.

Currently playing Last Oasis if that helps.

Thanks.

The bad news is, currently RX 580 are selling for £370 :p

You probably find the RX 560 is a £250+ card now!

If you haven't been paying close attention, the GPU market has recently lost its mind completely (mining resurgence + pandemic).

Well the last time I looked was October. Got my son a rx 5600 xt for £320 from ocuk. Not sure if that craziness kicked in then and I'd overplayed though?

Just started looking to upgrade my self and noticed this crazyness you speak of. I just didn't know if it was effecting new too end cards or all cards?

Are they actually going for them prices or are you being sarcastic

Yea was looking to upgrade the RX580 I have but it's worth twice as much as I paid for it just over a year ago.

The prices are crazy, I though I would be able to pick up a 5700 soon but bloody hell they are through the roof.

I will have to wait it out but it's probably going to be a long wait, we need a bitcoin crash to settle the market.

It's pretty much everything, even the second hand market has gone completely hatstand.
Ow dam. I've not exactly kept up todate with cards as it is so this currently situation is marking it hard to find what to buy to beat the rx 560 in that price range due to everything i see being priced through the roof

Literally all cards are screwed, except laptop and low power cards, so mostly those 2gig and below.

The rise in prices started shortly after AMD's 6000/RDNA2 announcement and release. The 570 was <£160 then. So yeah, just as you said October/November.

£300 for 5600xt was around normal at your time of purchase.

We all thought that buying a new card before the announcement from Nvidia and AMD was not worth it, how wrong we were :D

If you're on a low end CPU you may get a significant performance jump there. CPUs are in a better position than GPUs, not ideal stock, but not completely broken.

I picked up a RX 580 months ago and am ASTONISHED that it's now worth 3x the price! tempted to sell it on ebay and go back to the 280x!

Maybe try to get an RTX 3060 TI FE - That is if they start selling them again, as the FE's are currently not listed on Nvidia's website. These cards offer good performance for the price.

From AMD, they sometimes have RX 5600s on their website for <£300. Don't really recommend this as it's a last gen. GPU.

There's some cheaper GPUs on the way from AMD and Nvidia, but not until at least March.

No not really. The 5500xt doesn't have much power, even the 8gb model isn't much better. That's even at say £150

(Edit)
I went and had a gander at some benches for the 5500xt out of curiosity. It doesn't look that bad, i remember it being worse. But realistically, at £200 now i guess it may be forgivable. But it is a £150 card when ignoring the poor availability situation.

If it were me, i'd still wait.

Thanks for the reply.yes i guess i will wait and up the budget a bit.

A 5500 XT is an alright upgrade, it's between the RX 580 and RX 590, but not very exciting for £200. The low-end has needed a refresh for years, but with the prices like they are, the 3050 will be like.. £250, £300

OP should definitely wait at the moment if possible. You'll struggle to upgrade from a 560 unless you're willing to go well over £300.
