upgrading from ati to ati

well when upgrading my x1900xt to my new 3870xt will i need to uninstall drivers? or should i take it out and simply plug the new one in?

If you have the latest drivers then you should be fine just swapping the cards.

Just install the latest set if you havent got it already.

Didn't need to reinstall anything when moving from 2900XT to 3870XT. Worked fine, Windows just installed the drivers, CCC etc worked fine.

ati have all they cards in the driver so no need to uninstall them... just put your card in, let windows install the driver then reboot..

lol never worked guys, swapped cards, windows failed to recognise the new card, just uninstalled the drivers and im currently re-installing them, you should do a full clean no matter what upgrade it seems


forgot to mention im on vista 64 bit

It's best to un-install drivers and do a DriverCleaner in safe-mode, then installing again once you pop your new card in, even if your going ATi to ATi.
